Our Australian Labradoodle Puppies Win 2nd Place in the 4th of July Parade!
This year, we decided to participate in Wolfeboro’s Independence Day Parade. Our town has celebrated the Fourth of July with a parade for over 100 years and always has floats from local businesses, civic organizations and aspiring politicians (this year, Ron DeSantis walked in the parade!).
We were caring for 12 puppies at the time, so we thought we could have 4 in a covered wagon (decked out in red, white and blue), 4 in the bed of our truck (a great place for them to get a drink of water to stay hydrated), and 4 in the cab (where the air conditioning was on full blast!).
By rotating the pups to these three places throughout the 1.5 mile parade route, we made sure that the pups were cared for throughout the fun.
Leading up to the parade, we socialized the pups downtown for two weeks leading up to the parade with lots of petting and oohing and ahhhing so that they would be accustomed to wagon travel and seeing LOTS of people, and they were GREAT throughout the whole parade.
The rain held off all morning so we could finish the parade route and get them home to rest and recover. Now, the puppies are basking in the glow of their victorious 2nd place showing in the parade. My question is, what other float could possibly be more cute than these pups?
